SASHA KEAWE, LSW

Toyama Therapy Company’s commitment is to help students feel heard and understood when they think the world is a cold place. We work to improve mental health through problem-solving, mindfulness, and encouraging a growth mindset.
Sasha Oato Toyama Keawe was born and raised on the Big Island of Hawaii. She graduated from Konawaena High School and enjoyed spear diving, karate, and working on the family Kona coffee farm. Her mother was a teacher for the DOE and worked in an alternative learning setting for students who could not be on campus. Her father was an internal medicine physician in Kainaliu where she held her first job helping her mom out with the paperwork. She learned from an early age the importance of preventive care and developed an interest in working with high risk keiki. She graduated from the University of California at Santa Cruz with a major in psychology and legal studies and in 2008 she returned to Hawaii. In 2014, she graduated from UH Manoa’s school of Social Work. Currently, Sasha works for the Department of Education as a Behavioral Health Specialist for the central district of O’ahu. Because of the students serviced in the public school setting, TTC is not able to service keiki attending public school in the central district of O’ahu.
